The Requirement

Providing waste collection for Covid-19 test waste, Cignpost’s initial five sites rapidly grew to twenty within a fortnight and we’re now providing waste collections at over 50 sites across the UK.

Axil developed a bespoke solution, adapting our business model to suit Cignpost’s specific requirements.

Axil is working in partnership with Cignpost nationwide, providing waste collection services for Covid-19 test waste at two of the UK’s largest London airports, Heathrow & Gatwick, as well as Birmingham and Edinburgh airport. They also support key retail and transport hubs, keeping UK infrastructure moving.

Eighteen-months in, the contract has seen Axil manage waste services at Cignpost Diagnostics laboratory facilities, as well as its test sites across sectors including elite sport, defence, media, and finance. As well as no-location test-waste collections, Axil has worked with leading companies such as Netflix, Amazon, BBC, Scottish Premiership, and the PGA European Tour.

Challenges

Initially sub-contracting waste collections, Cignpost were dealing with multiple suppliers to manage their waste.

Following an approach back in October 2020, all waste collection services are now centrally managed by Axil.

With less stress on Cignpost’s internal teams, Axil reacts within short timescales, offering same day collections which were not possible through the subcontractor network.
