Axil is not only committed to reducing its own carbon footprint but also collaborates closely with clients to drive carbon reduction initiatives across their operations.
With a clear pathway and ambitious targets, Axil demonstrates expertise, care, and proactive engagement in tackling climate change and environmental impact.
We’re not just a waste management company; we’re champions of sustainability, committed to driving out costs, minimising resource extraction, and eliminating landfill across various critical sectors in UK manufacturing.
Our focus is to work with our clients to push their efforts further up the waste hierarchy, beyond recycling. Concentrating on best practices of waste avoidance, waste reduction, reuse, repair and redistribution. Striving towards circular solutions and joint creation of social value.

Carbon Reduction Target & Pathway
Axil has set a bold target of achieving a 50% absolute reduction in Scope 1 & 2 emissions by 2030, measured against a 2022 baseline. We want to play our part in ensuring we address climate risks and operate in the most efficient way, reducing carbon emissions within our operations where we can and working with our supply chain to drive and support continuous improvement as part of our climate promise.
The carbon reduction plan focuses on key areas:
- Procurement of Renewable Energy: Transitioning to renewable energy sources at our operated sites, reducing reliance on fossil fuels and lowering carbon emissions.
- Implementation of Alternative Low Emission Fuels: Introducing alternative low-emission fuels for our HGV fleet and forklifts, emphasising the adoption of sustainable energy solutions to minimise environmental impact.
- Investment in Innovation: Exploring options for zero-emission equipment and alternative fuels, demonstrating a proactive approach to embracing cutting-edge technologies that reduce carbon emissions.

Gina Rudkin, Axil’s Head of Sustainability & Zero Waste comments “We committed to baselining our emissions and identifying reduction opportunities well ahead of any legal requirement to do so because we want to live our value of positive environmental stewardship. Understanding and quantifying our own emissions also feeds directly into our client’s efforts to tackle Scope 3 emissions in their supply chain, so it benefits multiple stakeholders”
