The Challenge
The motorcycle manufacturer wanted to reduce waste sent for disposal, increase recycling and recover more value from materials across its site.
It also needed secure, compliant routes for surplus parts and materials where brand protection was critical.
The opportunity was to look beyond disposal and find better ways to recycle, recover and reuse more of what was being thrown away.

Turning waste into value
Axil reviewed the site’s waste streams, material markets and existing processes to identify practical opportunities to improve recycling, recovery and returns.
Secure surplus recycling
We established a controlled process to shred and recycle surplus plastic parts while protecting the manufacturer’s brand.
New recycling opportunities
We identified further opportunities to remove materials from general waste, including paper cup recycling.
Waste to energy
We redirected 240 tonnes of general waste to energy recovery, generating 144,000 kWh.
Recycling optimisation
We improved segregation, including introducing food waste separation to remove more material from general waste and reduce contamination.
Better material markets
We identified stronger outlets for recyclable materials, doubling rebate rates and increasing the value recovered from materials.
