- If I’m out on the road then I’ll be on a customer site sorting or listing waste, prepping it so its safe and compliant for transport. Or chatting with a customer, getting some idea of the processes on site that generate waste an advising them, where possible, to help reduce or better segregate the waste.
- If I’m in the office or working from home, then typically I’m generating templates for the waste I’ve listed or for a request from a contract manager or site chemist.
- Sometimes I get to escape to the lab for a little bit of testing and pre-acceptance analysis. These will either be to gather the essential information from a new sample or additional information from a non-conformed waste stream.
Operations, commercial, HSEQ and occasionally transport.
I enjoy its variety. Being in different places from week to week, with different challenges at those sites.
One week I can be up in Yorkshire listing a load for a customer, the next week I could be over in Peterborough learning about a new waste stream. You get to see what goes on everywhere and the other challenges faced by the other departments in Axil.

Always pack a change of clothes. If you’re visiting a site where you could get something on you (especially one of our more fragrant customers), it’s a much nicer drive back if your entire car doesn’t smell of it.
