Apprenticeship Q&A
I began my journey with Axil in July 2022 as I enrolled on a business administration apprenticeship with Bedford college. Before taking on this role I held no experience of working in the waste industry or in an office environment, however I am really enjoying the experience.
There are so many advantages to this opportunity that will help me develop new hands-on skills through experience within the workplace which will benefit me throughout my career.
I had been involved with various customer service roles but not in a professional environment. I’ve met so many wonderful people all who are excited and eager to teach me new things.
Balancing my apprenticeship workload and assignments alongside my actual job role has been a breeze as my manager allows me to work on tasks while I’m in the office and is supportive with my assignments. I have 6 week reviews with both my assessor and manager to discuss my progress of the course and training in the work place and job satisfaction. These teams’ meetings are a great opportunity for me to ask any questions to my assessor or manager regarding the workload or my wellbeing.
There are various valuable skills I have learnt from this role already as every day is bringing new challenges. I am being guided by multiple colleagues who are all excellent at assisting me with training and completing my work.
Without my apprenticeship I wouldn’t have known how to enter this industry or job role. I’m grateful the supportive team here at Axil and I look forward to continuing working here after achieving my apprenticeship qualification.
I would absolutely recommend taking on an apprenticeship if you’re looking to step into a new role but lack the knowledge or experience for the industry.
